Jack's First Real Haircut

Here is Jack before the haircut

Smiling for Mommy

Miss Gwen let him play with her bear

"Mom, you're going to have to let me have suckers from now on!"

I took Jack and Audrey to get their hair cut Tuesday. This was Jack's first haircut done by someone other than me. I figured I better quit snipping at his head, or I'm really going to mess the poor thing's head of hair up. Anyway, he did so well and I was so proud of him. He only fussed for a second when Gwen turned the clippers on. We rewarded him with a few licks of a sucker, and when I took it away from him, he screamed, which was the only time he cried. Audrey always likes getting her hair fixed, so of course she was a good girl, too. Here she is after we got home.

I had Audrey & Jack's pictures made today, for Jack's first birthday coming up on Sunday. It was very hard to get them to stay sill, smile, and look at the camera all at the same time. We did the best we could, and got some good shots. Jack took off crawling every time we got Audrey to sit pretty, and of course Audrey did the same when Jack sat still. I just can't believe this year has gone by so quickly. I know it will only continue to go quicker.

No more Nursing, 5 things about me

Well, I no longer nurse Jack and I am loving every minute of it. I never was one of those mothers who just couldn't stand the thought of not nursing my baby anymore. Not sure why some people are that way, but nursing was not my favorite thing to do. I did it because I thought it was best for my babies, plust to save money since formula costs about $24 a can. Jack missed it about a week, but he's doing great now, and sleeps much better in the night. So, I am proud of myself for lasting almost a year, but thank heaven I can now trash those awful nursing bras!

Here are 5 things about me that Lesley asked me to do. I'm not that exciting of a person, by the way:

1. My birthday is on New Years Day. It's not such a big deal to me, but every time I have to give my birthday to someone, they are always surprised and smile and think it's so neat that I'm a New Year's Baby. I always liked having my birthday off when I worked.

2. It took me almost 10 years to complete college. I am proud of myself for sticking with it, but if I had to do it all over again, I would have gone away to college and completed in 4 years, like normal people. I did get financial help through my employers, so I don't have any debt, thank goodness.

3. My newest thing now is to go consignment shopping and yard saling. I found, or my best friend told me about, Ladybug Landing in Lexington, and I love it, and I am even selling some of the kids' clothes there. I love going to yard sales, but it's hard taking both kids, so I don't get to go often. They like it for a couple of hours, that's it.

4. I love to read books and magazines. Almost any type will do, but recently I am enjoying some non-fiction.

5. My husband and I met on a blind date and have been together ever since. That was 11 years ago! Time sure flies, especially since we have Audrey and Jack. OH, and Lesley, I do let the kids have things they're not supposed to have sometimes, too, but don't tell their daddy or grandparents! haha.
